Brian A. Scruggs

Brian A. Scruggs, age 22, of St. Charles, passed away Thursday, October 24, 2019.

He was born on April 2, 1997 in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, the son of Steve and Tina (Steurer) Scruggs.

He attended St. Charles schools and graduated from St. Charles North High School, where his talents came to light in his AP computer science and culinary classes.   He attended Elgin Community College briefly and became certified in computer hardware repair.

Brian enjoyed playing video games, watching movies, cooking, and spending time with his dogs, Roxy and Cooper.   Although he struggled with mental illness for several years, Brian remained a steadfast, sweet gentleman whom his parents, brother, and extended family loved so much.

Brian is survived by his parents, Steve and Tina Scruggs of St. Charles and his brother, Nick.  He also leaves his maternal grandparents, Holly and Len Steurer of South Elgin and his paternal grandparents, Myra and Howard Levin of Skokie, Illinois and Ann Scruggs of Saginaw, Texas. He is also survived by his aunts and uncles—Craig Steurer, Toby and Lisa Steurer, and Laura Reizner—along with many cousins, including Rebecca Reizner, Zach Reizner, Jacquelyn Steurer, Brynne Steurer, Wyatt Steurer, Mason Steurer, and Aubrey Steurer.

A visitation for Brian will be Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at the Malone Funeral Home, 324 E State Street/Route 38, Geneva, IL 60134 from 3:30 pm until the time of his Memorial Service at 7:30 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Anderson Animal Shelter, 1000 S. La Fox Street, South Elgin, Illinois 60177 or any animal rescue of your choice would be appreciated.
