Anna Lubke, age 89, of Geneva, passed away Thursday, April 19, 2018 at home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born December 25, 1928 in Filipovo, Yugoslavia, the daughter of Sebastian and Elisabeth (Mueller) Spiess.
Anna had a green thumb and worked at Geneva Greenhouse for many years. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, knitting, music, and dancing. She was a longtime member of St. Peter Catholic Church and lived a faith-filled life. Anna loved life and loved her family. Her favorite pastime was spending time with her family and friends and she will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her children Pat Lubke and Bob Lubke both of Geneva; nieces Rita (Rick) Bebar, Mary (Mike) Meyer, and Anna (John) Woodford; nephew Tony Spiess; sister-in-law Madeline Spiess; her “Angel” Betty Ward; dear friend Rosemary Thies; and many other dear relatives and friends.
Anna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Robert who passed away in 2012; brothers Lorenz (Kathy) and Francis Spiess; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mike and Alma Badzioch.
A visitation for Anna will be held Saturday, May 12 from 9:30 until the time of her funeral mass at 10:30 am at St. Peter Catholic Church, 1891 Kaneville Road, Geneva with Father Ariel Valencia, celebrant.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to American Lung Association in Illinois, 55 W. Wacker Drive, Suite 800, Chicago, Illinois 60601 would be appreciated.
