Ann A. Nitkey, age 91, of Geneva, passed away Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at Bria nursing home in Geneva with her loving family by her side.
She was born July 13, 1927 in Chicago, the daughter of Bernardino and Maria (Pasquali) Annibaldi.
Ann served her country as a nurse in the United States Navy. She also worked as a nurse at Geneva Community Hospital and Mercy Center Hospital for many years. Ann loved to cook, knit, garden, and read, but her favorite pastime was spending time with her family. She will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her children Maureen (Fred) Haddox of Arizona, John (Kelly) Nitkey of St. Charles, Mark (Tracey) Nitkey of Massachusetts, and Michelle (Michael) Slepikas of Geneva; grandchildren Ryan and Kevin Fitzpatrick, Hannah and Sarah Nitkey, Spencer and Sophia Nitkey, and Connor and Cole Slepikas; great granddaughter Eissabella Nitkey; nieces Regina and Marietta Birdsell; and many other dear relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Gaetana “Ida” Birdsell and Rosaria Annibaldi, and husband Jack who passed away in 1999.
Visitation will be held Saturday, September 29, 2018 from 1:00 pm until the time of her memorial service at 4:00 pm at Malone Funeral Home, 324 E. State Street (Route 38), Geneva with Father Jonathan Bakkelund officiating.
Interment will be held privately on Monday, October 1 at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.
