Ann Joy Archias, age 90, of Goshen, Indiana, formerly of Geneva, passed away April 21, 2017, at Goshen Hospital, Goshen, Indiana.
Ann was born January 21, 1927, in Chicago, the daughter of George and Ann (Wyman) Schoonmaker. Ann Joy loved Chicago all her life. She attended business school and worked for a Chicago law firm.
Ann married Richard Earl Archias on January 10, 1948. They first lived in St. Charles, then were Geneva residents for many years. While raising her children, Susan and Andrew, Ann worked for Kane County, Department of Planning and Zoning. She adored her grandchildren, Aaron and Andrea.
Ann was an avid reader of all kinds of literature and news. She loved music and films. She was an expert seamstress, and a great baker. For many years, Ann enjoyed collecting, historical study, restoration, and donation of antique dolls. She cherished her doll club friends, and was a regular letter-writer, keeping up with family and friends.
Ann was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who will be dearly missed. She is survived by her children, Susan (Charles) Archias-Winker of Brenham, Texas, and Andrew (Leonor) Archias of Osceola, Indiana, and their children, her grandchildren, Aaron and Andrea; her sister, Joan Lid of Wheaton; three nephews and a niece. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A memorial service will be held Monday, September 24, 2018, at 10:00 am at Malone Funeral Home, 324 E. State Street, Geneva, Illinois, with Pastor Loy Williams officiating.
Private burial at Oak Hill Cemetery, Geneva, IL, will precede the memorial service.
