Dr. Robert K. “Bob” Dean, age 83, of Batavia, passed away Thursday, July 6, 2017 at Michealsen Health Center in Batavia.

He was born August 10, 1933 in Toledo, Ohio, the son of Charles and Kathryn (Trudeau) Dean.

Bob graduated with a bachelor’s degree and a medical degree from Ohio State University. He was a plastic surgeon in Toledo for 12 years and eventually opened up a practice here in Geneva in 1979.  Bob enjoyed reading, painting, and listening to music, especially big bands and jazz.  He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching the Cubs win the 2017 World Series. One of his favorite pastimes was spending time at his lake home in Door County with his family. Bob will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years Jessica (Scharf); children Pat (Kathleen) of Highland Park, Chris of Michigan, Matt and Bob both of Minnesota, Anne Evans and Margaret Gillison both of Arizona; grandchildren Missy, Emily, and Molly; sister Judy Jester of Ohio; and many other dear relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his son Mike.

A memorial service for Bob will be held on Thursday, August 10, 2017 at noon at Malone Funeral Home, 324 E. State Street (Route 38), Geneva.

Burial will be held privately at Oak Hill Cemetery in Geneva.

Visitation will be held Thursday, August 10 from 10:00 am until the time of the memorial service at Malone Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials made to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
